Old Mama’s Quote
I was talking with my grandma today and I got a very promising quote from her. We were talking about how it feels to be an old fully grown person. At first she was trying to tell me that life is worth living when you got old and I was a bit confused of that. She explained it to me that when you got older, everything will return to you – the good deeds, family, gifts, and prayers. I was asking her why is it so and she just told me, “Just see it when you get old”. I know she was felt me so annoying hehehe. Then she added this “You’re on the sunrise and I’m on the sunset”. Hmmm I got it and she prepared her favorite oat meal which she often called “My Style”.

Be Meticulous and Careful
We are prone to make mistakes. Most of the time we avoid errors and back-jobs because it will mess up all the efforts that we shed to accomplish that job but when we commit mistakes we learn something out of that. Just like what I have done lately. I was trying to look for good software online and was hoping that it will be installed on my unit. Now, what happened is that I was able to install a program that I wish to use for my internet access and everything. It was a very damn installation because I know the risk of having that program but I just want to try if it works. After the installing the program I tried to prime it for the first time and it was working. Then, I was thinking to remove it since I wasn’t satisfied and doubtful about it. Now what happened is that when it was successfully remove from the system, my internet access was terminated. I was trying to inject some remedies to my computer but none of those fixed the problem. That’s why I have no other choice in my mind but to reformat it because it’s a bit higher type of software troubleshooting. Now that’s a very big disgrace on me because I need to start all over again from the scrap. The lesson I learned from that is to be careful of the things that I want to try – good thing that it can be easily fixed and never remained as it is.

Uniqueness
We always seek for something new. Every now and then a change is taking place in our surrounding and even within us. It is as ability of human being wherein each has its very own characteristics. Indeed we don’t have to compare ourselves with the other people in the community. Otherwise we should live a life with freedom and simplicity.

The Feast
Talking so much about the feast happening in Cebu right-now, I asked my father about what is really the difference between the Feast of Sr. Santo Niño and the Sinulog Festival. I was a bit confused about these two celebrations religious cultural feast.
According to my father, the feast for Sr. Santo Niño is somehow having a bit difference with the Sinulog. At first these two celebrations doesn’t happen in a single day. Instead, it is a two days of festivity. The solemn celebration which happens first is for the feast in honor of Sr. Santo Niño. Then, at the second day which is usually Sunday, the Sinulog Festival takes place. He added that, if it is said to be a religious cultural feast, then the Feast for Sr. Santo Niño is the religious celebration and in some ways the Sinulog is a cultural activity.
Now, I am not that confused between the two and I conclude that these two celebrations relates to each other. Lacking any of the two will disarrange the thought and destroy the faithful beliefs of the devotees.

Devotees from Different Corners of the World
I thought only Filipino people knows about Sr. Santo Niño De Cebu. During this 30th anniversary of the having Sr. Santo Niño in Cebu, a lot of devotees came to visit and took their long ways from the places very far from these island. According to the news, there have been a lot of foreign people came to visit Cebu to witness the celebration and take part in the commemoration of the most precious gift that the Cebuano’s receive a very long time ago.
It was very wonderful to see those people visit our place. Off course many of our fellow Filipino people whose working or living in different countries came also to visit and take some vacation just to witness the celebration.

What’s best to Celebrate?
Devotees of the Sr. Santo Niño celebrate the 30th annual festival know as Sinulog. As I have stated earlier, the celebration of the feast for the patron of Cebu is a very fantastic and wonderful. But what should be the best reason to celebrate? Is it because of the wonderful attractions during the feast? Or because the people have been so blessed because of their devotions to the Sr. Santo Niño?
For many Cebuano’s, we celebrate both. We have the dancing and parade because it serves as the joyful celebration of the devotees and most important we have the Fluvial Parade at the Mactan Channel, The Mass, and the Procession of the Blessed Statue of Sr. Santo Niño on the street along with the faithful devotees. It is a very solemn procession since they do this together with the mass at the Santo Niño Church. The procession will start at the church following the routes and after a very long travel, it will be back to the church.

Sinulog Festival
Once again the commemorative devotees of Cebu celebrate “Sinulog 2010”. This festive celebration happens every 3rd Sunday in the month of January. This was done as an honor to the great patron of Cebu known as Sr. Santo Niño De Cebu. Sinulog by its name is a dance. It is a ritual of the devotees to express their thanks giving to the Sr. Santo Niño for the blessings they received due to their undying devotions and prayers. It also shows how the Cebuano people commemorate the things that happened so many years ago when Christianity was introduced to the pagans of the island.
During the celebration, a lot of attractions can be seen in the city streets. There you can see the street dance competition, Sinulog Dance Competition, the parade giant puppets know as the “Higante”, and a whole lot of fun can happen during the festival. It is a very wonderful experience to be a part of the celebration. You got to enjoy the different scene of the Sinulog Celebration.

Be the Real You
I was watching the TV show WOWOWEE when a contestant brought a very serious announcement. This person was a contestant of the game called “Willie of Fortune”. In front of the public viewers around the world, he confessed that he was a bisexual person. He kept this secret for a very long time but still he wants to tell what’s true behind his personality. He was trying to find a perfect timing so that he can tell it to his girlfriend but it didn’t happen. So when he got the chance to play at WOWOWEE, he thinks for it as the perfect time for him to tell the things that he kept for a very long time.
I was just amazed with him because it needs a great courage to do the same thing as what he has done. He knows that a lot of things will happen. And everything will be different since he can’t predict what the reactions of his friends are. His girlfriend at the first place was a bit shocked of what she discovered about the guy. I salute for the great courage of that guy.

The Midnight Mass
Midnight Mass or we call it as “Misa De Galeo” in our dialect is a nine-day Novena Mass. It is a part of our religious culture that has started so many years ago. The Mass starts at 4:30 in the morning but in the church in our place, the Mass starts at 4 because the half-hour time is intended for the presentation. About the presentation, it is in a way of drama, choral ensemble, or a song interpretation related to the theme of the church.
The church is always full of the parishioners who want to attend the Mass. However, most people who attend the Mass have a very special purpose of why they were there. It is a belief of many that when you completed the nine days of the Novena Mass, your prayers and the things that you ask to God will be granted.
So with that, I can really say that it depends on the seriousness and constant prayers that a person does. And also, God knows what we need and what’s best for us.

Christmas Is Coming
I really love to celebrate Christmas in my home town. Cebu is the place where I was born. I saw the first sunshine here in this island. No wonder that it is called as the “Queen City of the South”. Cebu is deserving of that title because it is really a beautiful place to live. That’s why I love to celebrate Christmas here especially that in a couple of days to come, the city streets will be full of lights and decorations. Right-now, I can hear the Christmas songs over the local radio stations. People also are on their way to the market for the advanced shopping because they know that it will get busy as Christmas approaches.
